As professional Aerialists and Aerial Instructors, we are often asked by our students and community for various recommendations; Everything from injury prevention and management to performance opportunities for students, our favorite aerial clothing and which vendors we like to purchase Aerial Silks from.
Throughout our 14+ years of being working Aerialists, we have performed with our fair share of injuries, silk burns and illnesses (the show must go on!). We have experimented with different Aerial Silks vendors and training clothes and been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel and share our art all over the world.
This week’s blog is an attempt to provide you with at least some of those oft-requested recommendations as well as some handy discount codes for you to take advantage of.
Here goes.
Silk Burn Treatment: Pain-Relieving Neosporin
Why We Love It: This ointment (ew, gross word) not only heals burns FAST, it also relieves the pain of a silk burn so you can get on an 8 hour plane flight as Rachel did a few weeks back after a particularly nasty burn and not feel a thing! (Wine helps too..)
Cold/Flu Relief: Zicam (tablets)
Why We Love It: If taken early enough, Zicam tablets seems to prevent a cold/flu from actually developing. Brett in particular swears by this product and takes it if he is feeling run down and particularly susceptible to illness.
Post Performance Recovery/Injury Maintenance: Cryogenic Therapy + Dead Sea Float
Why We Love It: We are both recent converts to this incredible treatment. After a particularly exhausting weekend of travel/training/performances Rachel stumbled upon a beautiful spa in West Hollywood: Grotto de Sal. She found the combination of Cryo and Float incredibly relieving and soothing to her aching muscles and joints and her lingering post-performance rotator-cuff pain all but disappeared! If you are in the LA area visit http://www.grottodesal.com and get 10% off when you enter promo code: womackandbowman (all lower case)
Aerial Competitions/Festivals We are Supporting: Reno AerialFest
Why We Support Them: Although we are not affiliated with this competition in any way we are impressed with the high caliber of judges (including Dreya Webber who is the aerial choreographer for P!nk, Katy Perry, Rihanna and many others) as well as the professional nature of the festival itself and associated workshops. Competition director Sarah Sperber was kind enough to offer a special 10% off competition discount code to our readers (that’s you!) who are interested in entering the competition, simply enter the promo code: WBatRAF at check out (code does not work on mobile devices). Prizes for this comp that takes place on November 4th (registration closes May 15th) include massages, photo shoots, clothing and more! You can submit your act here: https://www.renoaerialfest.com/submissions
Aerial/Active Clothing: Just Live
Why We Love Them: As you know, it can be challenging to find the right clothing for aerial training. We need protection without slippage, to look cute while still being supported. Just Live Active wear is made with Yolon Fabric. This innovative material is odor resistant, has a four way ‘never see through’ stretch, ultra-compression moisture control and a luxe second skin feel, without being slippery. At this time their line is female only (sorry boys!), so ladies, if you are in the market for some new aerial clothing, check them out HERE and enter promo code: womackandbowman1804 for a 10% discount!
Note: Rachel loves the racer back tank with the built in bra!
Aerial Silks Vendors: Sal-Tex Fabrics
Why We Love Them: We have been purchasing our Aerial Silks from this downtown LA based vendor for over 10 years! Excellent service, a wide variety of colors in both low stretch and medium stretch fabrics and super reasonable prices make Sal-Tex our favorite place to purchase aerial fabric. They do ship internationally.

Have a wonderful rest of your week!
