Arguably one of the most fascinating knots on the Aerial Silks is the Belay Knot.
This versatile knot earned its name from the world of rock climbing and seems to ‘magically’ appear via dozens and dozens of interesting wraps and entries.
One moment an aerialist is posed in a beautiful arch or inverted split, then with an unexpected wrap or drop she appears effortlessly suspended by her neck, elbow, knee or armpits, intriguingly secured by just a single loop!
Here at Womack and Bowman we LOVE experimenting with new pathways into the Belay Knot. Like a half finished puzzle we can’t seem to stop mulling over, there are so many options but only a few that really work.
While there will likely always be new entries being discovered and created into the Belay Knot, we certainly have our favorites.
